| Little is known about the artist, but his
paintings appear from time to time in French
provincial auctions. Couchet obviously had
a fine eye for color and spent time studying
his compatriots, the French impressionists.
His palette is bright yet subtle, his brushwork
bold yet sure, with strategic use of impasto
